Automation & Robotics — Direct Drive Applications
Automation and robotics require rotary and linear motion that balances torque, dynamics and integration. As a ready-to-use module, the RDDS rotary direct-drive subsystem covers robot kinematics, automation handling axes and Pick & Place positioning tables in its official applications; torque motors provide the high torque needed for rotary joints and tables, and linear motors paired with Z-axis subsystems enable high-speed pick-and-place.
Rotary joints, handling axes and pick-and-place modules have differing requirements for torque, dynamics, integration and reliability.
The rotary joints and tables of robot kinematics require sufficient torque and stiffness. Torque motors (RKI, RMK/RMF) or integrated RDDS subsystems should be used; the printed-circuit-board UPR has lower output and suits only lightweight, low-inertia rotary axes, not high-load joint drives.
Mechanism integration is complex and development schedules are tight. RDDS integrates motor, bearing, measuring system and cooling into a ready-to-use module, with official applications including robot kinematics and automation handling axes, greatly reducing assembly, adjustment and maintenance work.
Pick-and-place and handling pursue maximum throughput. Linear motors drive horizontal axes with high dynamics, Z-axis short-stroke actuators serve as fast vertical axes, and RDDS serves as a Pick & Place positioning table — the three forming a high-speed, high-repeatability pick-and-place module.
Automated production lines require long-term non-stop operation. Direct drive is contactless, wear-free and maintenance-free, and RDDS has zero backlash and low wear, ensuring the long-term stability and reliability of handling and pick-and-place at high cadence.
RDDS subsystems as rotary and handling axes, torque motors as rotary joints, and linear + Z-axis for high-speed pick-and-place.

Ready-to-use rotary modules integrating torque motor, precision bearing, measuring system and cooling. The official applications cover robot kinematics, automation handling axes, Pick & Place positioning tables and testing tables, serving the automation industry. The RDDS-20-B is a highly integrated ready-to-use unit.

RKI high-performance internal-rotor motors provide the maximum torque in the available space, ideal for fast rotary axes and tables; RMK/RMF slotless iron-core motors move exceptionally evenly, ideal for high-precision rotary positioning. Both directly drive rotary joints and indexing axes, with zero backlash and maintenance-free operation.

UPLplus ironless linear motors drive high-dynamic horizontal axes with +42% force-to-mass ratio and low moving mass; LDDS-032 / LDDS-078 Z-axes serve as fast press-down axes. Together they form a high-speed, high-repeatability pick-and-place and handling module.
Robot kinematics, handling axes and Pick & Place positioning tables correspond to the official RDDS automation applications.
