MONORAIL AMSABS 3L is an integrated absolute position measuring system designed by SCHNEEBERGER specifically for long-axis applications. It perfectly combines a high-precision magneto-resistive position sensor with the proven MONORAIL MR four-row roller guideway. This system provides an ideal solution for large machine tools, gantry machining centers, and high-end automation equipment requiring ultra-long stroke positioning and real-time position feedback.

Absolute Measuring Advantages

Unlike incremental systems, absolute measuring systems provide precise position information immediately upon power-up, without requiring a homing procedure. Through multi-segment rail connection technology, AMSABS 3L is designed for measuring lengths > 6 m and can be assembled to any length, significantly reducing machine startup time and ensuring immediate resumption of machining operations after power interruption.

AMSABS 3L employs magneto-resistive measuring principles, with the reading head integrated directly inside the carriage housing for a compact system design. The magnetic scale tape is embedded in the rail side, fully protected from external environmental influences. The system offers various digital interface options including SSI, SSI+1Vpp, FANUC, Mitsubishi, and Siemens Drive-CLiQ®, allowing easy integration with various control systems.

Rail Types and Available Options

AMSABS 3L rails are based on the MONORAIL MR design, with built-in magnetic scale tape for absolute position measurement. Only N-type (standard) rails are available.

Integrated Reading Head Design

AMSABS 3L carriages integrate the reading head inside the carriage housing, with the reading head output cable exiting from the carriage side. The carriage body is identical to MONORAIL MR, with the same load capacity and mechanical characteristics. Available carriage types vary by size: Size 30/45/55 do not have E-type, Size 65 only has A, B, C, D types. Reading heads can be easily replaced and are universal across all sizes.
