Mineral Casting — Precision Structural Solutions
Superior vibration damping · Ultra-low thermal conductivity · Complete chemical resistance · Cold-casting eco-friendly process
Schneeberger delivers premium structural foundation solutions for precision machine tools
Mineral Casting is an advanced structural material from Schneeberger, produced through a cold-casting process using natural quartz mineral aggregates bonded with epoxy resin. The entire process requires no external heating — the energy needed is naturally generated by the exothermic reaction between the chemical components.
Compared to conventional steel or grey cast iron, mineral casting offers significant technical, economic, and ecological advantages in vibration damping, thermal stability, chemical resistance, and environmental friendliness. Originally used for metal grinding machine bases, it now serves a wide range of high-end industries including medical technology, solar equipment, electronics manufacturing, and packaging machinery.
Schneeberger is a world-leading manufacturer of mineral castings, delivering not just individual castings but complete pre-assembled modules — integrating linear guideways, linear motors, electronics, and sensors — for a true one-stop solution.
Mineral casting is a cold-casting process — no external heat source is needed during production; all required energy is naturally generated by the exothermic reaction between chemical components. Compared to steel or cast iron, each ton of mineral casting reduces approximately 1.6 tons of CO₂ emissions, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process. All products are fully recyclable — Schneeberger offers a certified recycling program.
With superior vibration damping and eco-friendly properties, mineral casting serves a wide range of high-precision industries
Large machining center beds — high damping performance directly improves workpiece surface quality and tool life, with integrated linear guideway mounting surfaces for precision positioning.
Frame-type machine base structure with integrated large bearing housings and precision mounting surfaces, cast in a single pour for overall rigidity and dimensional stability.
Structural components for high-precision lens machining machines — the thermal stability of mineral casting ensures optical surface processing quality.
High-speed packaging equipment with mineral casting bases absorbs dynamic impact loads, improving equipment durability and operational precision.
Demanding 5-axis machining center structures with integrated linear guideway mounting surfaces and large bearing housings — high damping ensures multi-axis simultaneous motion accuracy.
Side panel structures for gantry-type machining centers — complex geometries cast in a single pour, combining high rigidity with excellent vibration damping performance.
