3.3 Guide Rail and Carriage Labelling

SCHNEEBERGER clearly labels guide rails and carriages so that products can be identified and traced at all times. The labelling includes a precise type designation, the date of manufacture, and a serial number for the guide rails. For multi-part guide rails and cover strips, the individual segments and joints are also marked to ensure that the components are installed in the correct order.

Carriage labelling

Carriage

The carriage is labelled on its upper surface between the polished mounting surfaces. The label contains the following information:

1 Type designation (see MONORAIL and AMS product catalogues for codes)
2 Production order number
3 Production week number
4 Production year
5 Optional: Carriage description for versions that differ from the standard version
Guide rail labelling

Guide Rail

The guide rail is labelled on the underside of the profile, on the side opposite the locating side. The label contains the following information:

1 SCHNEEBERGER company logo
2 Type designation (see MONORAIL product catalogue for order code)
3 Consecutive serial number
AMS guide rail with magnetic measuring tape

AMS Guide Rail with Magnetic Measuring Tape

Guide rails with magnetic measuring tape are labelled on the underside of the profile, on the side opposite the measuring tape, and the serial number and reference mark type label are marked on the upper surface of the guide rail. The label is located on the same side as the measuring tape.

1 Reference mark pattern symbol (see table below for codes)
2 Serial number

Reference Mark Type Description

Guide Rail Symbol Meaning AMS Design Order Code
DC Distance coded AMSA 3B/4B, AMSD 3B/4B TD 50, TD 20
Equidistant reference mark symbol Equidistant reference mark spacing AMSA 3B/4B, AMSD 3B/4B
AMSA 3L 25/35/45/55/65
TR 50, TR 30, TR 40, TR 60, TR 105, TR 75
ABS Absolute AMSABS 3B, 4B TA1
ABS P0 Absolute reference guide rail AMSABS 3L P0
Paired and multi-part guide rails

Paired and Multi-Part Guide Rails

Paired guide rails are marked with consecutive serial numbers on the upper surface of the guide rail. Multi-part guide rails are also marked at each butt joint using a joint numbering system. The numbering includes:

1 Group number (consecutive)
2 Guide rail line number (numbered consecutively for each group of guide rails)
3 Joint indication serial number (numbered consecutively for each line)
Multi-part cover strips

Multi-Part Cover Strips

Multi-part cover strips are marked with a joint indication serial number at the butt joints. This marking is located on the underside at the end of each cover strip:

1 Joint indication serial number (numbered consecutively for each group of guide rails)
2 Guide rail line 1
3 Guide rail line 2

3.4 Product Identification - Measuring System

The MONORAIL AMS measuring system is available in six versions:

  • AMSA
  • AMSD
  • AMSABS
  • AMSABS DC
  • AMSA 3L
  • AMSABS 3L

Except for AMSA 3L, these versions are available for both Ball MONORAIL BM and Roller MONORAIL MR. Each measuring system can be identified by its electronics housing.

The label on each electronics housing contains the following information:

AMSABS AMSA AMSABS DC
1 Type designation
2 SCHNEEBERGER GmbH company logo
3 SCHNEEBERGER GmbH (Höfen) address
4 Input voltage specification
5 CE marking
AMSA 3L label

The AMSA 3L measuring system is an exception. In this case, the identification label is located directly on the read head.

Cable labelling

The product name and serial number can be found on the cable near the connector. For AMSABS DC, this is near the electronics box.
